CPAP Equipment

You can contact our Customer Service team to order consumables on 1800 24 02 02 or email: healthie@airliquide.ie.

Please have the name of your device and consumables to hand to help identify the required consumables.

Daily:

  • The mask and cushions should be cleaned with a damp cloth.
  • The humidifier and tubing should be emptied of water, rinsed with clean water, allowed to dry thoroughly, and refilled with distilled or cooled boiled water.

 Once a week:

  • The humidifier and tubing should be cleaned thoroughly with mild soap and water. Do not use antibacterial or strongly scented soap, oils, aromatic or decongestant products.
  • Any washable air filter must be cleaned and dried and disposable filters must be replaced according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • The CPAP mask may be disassembled and cleaned, being careful with the cushion.
  • The headgear may be cleaned as desired in a washing machine. Ensure velcro straps are closed over to prevent entanglement with other clothes.
  • Make sure the CPAP machine, filters, tubing, mask, and accessories are dry before using them again. Let them air dry, do not use hot air sources (such as a hair dryer).
  • Ensure your face is dry of water or oils as this may cause skin irritation resulting in blotches and blistering.

The main causes are:

  1. Do not overfill the water chamber, fill to the maximum level as indicated on the water chamber.
  2. A large temperature difference between the inside and outside of the circuit: try to avoid an ambient temperature of lower than 15 °C. Ideal conditions are a temperature of between 18 and 22°C.
  3. Location of the humidifier is higher than the patient, if you can lower the level of the humidifier and machine below the level of the bed. Try to raise the circuit above the humidifier to prevent the accumulation of water in the tube.

If you know your prescribed pressure setting make sure that the device is displaying this pressure setting without the ramp button being activated. This low pressure feeling can be quite normal at the start of therapy and may adjust through the night to achieve best therapy results while you are asleep. There may be an unintentional air leak from the device. Ensure there are no tears in the tubing or mask. There may be some discomfort at the beginning of therapy while you adjust to this feeling. Check that you are breathing normally and allow yourself a few minutes to adjust to the treatment. If you are having difficulty getting used to the treatment at night-time, try using your device during the day to help you acclimatise to the treatment. Please note that the therapy is only effective while being used during sleep. If after a few days you are still experiencing some difficulty getting used to the device, please contact our Customer Service Team on 1800 24 02 02.

Don't worry, CPAP therapy is not a life support treatment, so if you feel less pressure than usual, your life is not at risk but we are going to check where the problem may be.

  • If there is no pressure in your CPAP, verify that the CPAP is connected to power. Turn on the device to ensure that the blower is delivering air.
  • With the mask fitted if you feel less pressure than usual, check that the air inlet and the filter are not blocked. Clean the filter if necessary to remove dust. Inspect the circuit (tube between the mask and CPAP Machine) to make sure it is not damaged in any way.
  • If you can not resolve the problem, contact our customer service team on 1800 24 02 02.

There may be several reasons why your machine makes excessive noise:

  • The air inlet may be blocked, make sure the filter is clean and correctly inserted, the device is at least 10-15cm from the wall, or not being used in an enclosed space.
  • Check that the CPAP, humidifier and the tubing are connected correctly or your circuit does not have any  small holes or cracks that can cause air leakage and noise.
  • Ensure that after cleaning all parts are reconnected and not suffering any additional leaks. You can test for leaks by disconnecting your mask from the end of the hose, block the end of the hose with the palm of your hand, turn the device on and listen for leaking air. This will help you to find the location of the leak and solve the problem. If a replacement part is required please contact us to get these sent to you. Do not use sellotape or glue to repair holes.
  • If you have oxygen in addition to your CPAP, make sure the tubing is connected to the entrainment port for this purpose so that air does not escape this connection and cause leak.
  • If you do not identify any problems check if your nightstand and your machine are stable. If this is not the case, a technical review of the equipment by our staff may be necessary.

Your machine may set to auto on/off; this means that it can cut out at night when there are significant leaks in the circuit. Check the condition of the circuit / Tube and mask to ensure there are no unintentional leaks.

Check the condition of the plug and / or electrical installation, ensuring that they are all undamaged and safe to use. Please report any faults to Air Liquide Healthcare straight away if there are any issues discovered.

In the event of an alarm, you should:

  • Read the alarm message
  • Check the connection (CPAP and wall outlet)
  • Check the circuit for leaks
  • Check the circuit for obstructions

Check that the socket in the wall  works using something like a lamp to ensure there is power at the outlet. Make sure the power cord is plugged into the socket and power is getting to the CPAP. If the problem does not come from the socket, then you should contact us. Do not attempt to repair the machine yourself.

When using a heated humidifier, it is recommended to:

  • Set the room temperature between 18 and 22°C.
  • Use the minimum setting of the heater and gradually increase until the optimum temperature and humidity is reached.
  • Avoid using the maximum temperature to reduce the build up of condensation in the circuit.
