Portable Oxygen Systems

Portable oxygen systems offer you the optiosn to move outsude of the home, attend clinics and exercise classes, go shopping, spend time with friends and family.

Operating a cylinder is done using eiher a conserver device or direct flow.

If you have been prescribed to use the device on direct flow you can simply connect your canula or face mask directly to the outlet of the device and twist the control valve on top of the cylinder to your prescribed number.

If you have been prescribed to use the portable oxygen system through an oxygen conserver you will have either an Eco 4000 conserver device or an Oxymo conserver device.

eco 4000

A Conserving device will deliver oxygen in a pulse dose format during your inhale phase of breathing. You will hear a small Pssst of oxygen and feel a little delivery of oxygen on each inhale. This will hep to incraese the longevity of the cylinder by up to 3 times as oxygen in not wasted while you are breathing out.

How to use an Eco 4000 conserver:

Step 1

Connect the curly hose using the firclic coupling, slide the silver collar over the green mark, push firclic onto oxygen outlet, then slide the silver collar forward exposing the green marking.

Step 2

Turn Cylinder to 4 LPM on top control valve, even if you are on a higher flow setting you should still use this setting number.

Step 3

Turn on Eco 4000 using left I/O button, ensure that the setting is as per prescribed so as not to over use the oxygen and cause health implications.

Step 4

Insert nasal canula into your nostrils and breath through your nose to activate the pulse delivery of oxygen to you.

You can adjust the settings of the device by using the + and - buttons if allowed to do so.

How to use the Oxymo conserving device

Step 1

Connect the Schrader probe into the white connection on the side of the oxygen bottle. It will be spring loaded and require a little bit of additional force. The curly Hose will feed oxygen from the oxygen cylinder to the conserver device as required during the inhale phase of breathing.

Step 2

Switch on the conserver device using the I/O button. the conserver will go through a start up rotine where it will expell some oxygen through the canula. please ensure you do not have this attached to your nose at the same time.

Step 3

Using the +/- buttons you can adjust the level of oxygen being delivered to you. Incrments of 0.5LPM are displayed with a maximum delivery of 7.5LPM

Remember! Do not exceed your prescribed Oxygen dose unless you have been advised by your prescriber or respiratory nurse specialist. To do so could have negative effects on your Oxygen levels.
